Our Story
Our story begins as you might expect - on a dating app, but it was a mutual love of Vietnamese noodle soup that brought us together. Our first date was at a cozy East Van pub, we swapped stories about Hiking, camping, mountains and all things outdoors. The connect felt was instant and thus the adventure officially began.
Edythe wasted no time testing Josh’s "outdoorsy" credentials: with a canoe trip to Raccoon Island, the infamous "trip of fire, floods, and ice," and a remote redneck hot spring escapade that featured fireworks and chihuahuas. The real spark happened during a canoe trip across Kootenay Lake to Fry Creek in 2019. Battling headwinds, waves, and a few moments of panic, we safely made it to our destinationIt was on this trip that Josh had proven he could handle any misadventure Edythe dreamed up and under the stars, surrounded by mountains, we fell in love.
From then on the two of us became inseparable. Days were spent playing in the garden, cooking elaborate meals, and hatching new and exciting adventures. From the west coast of BC to New Zealand and onwards to Japan our love grew. It became abundantly clear that the two of us were committed to spending the rest of our lives together.
Josh had originally hatched a plan for a grand proposal on a mountain top in Kamikochi, Japan but unfortunately circumstances did not permit it to be. It wasn't until months later that on a frosted morning, surrounded by fresh snowy mountains, on the banks of the Squamish river, with the turquoise water rushing by Josh said the words he had been hanging on to for so long. On bended knee he got the answer he was longing for, Edythe said yes!
In true Josh and Edythe fashion, the master plan was only the first draft. So one more extremely important side quest before tying the knot, in December 2024 they started their own branch of the family, welcoming baby Myles to the clan.
Throughout all our adventures there was always an element of misadventure, and no matter how things unfold we trust in each other to find the path. It's not always the picture perfect movie moment. It's about the journey and all the hiccups that happen along the way, building our beautiful life — everything imperfectly perfect!
“I would rather share one lifetime with you than face all the ages of this world alone”.

Travel & Stay
01.
Getting There
Meadow Creek is located at the north end of Kootenay Lake along the Balfour-kaslo-galena-bay highway in BC's southern interior. It is a 9 hour drive From Vancouver, the most direct route is along the crows nest highway. For those unfamiliar with the area feel free to reach out for travel tips. We highly recommend stocking up on fresh fruit and samosas in Keremeos! If the drive feels a bit too long then the closest airport is the West Kootenay Regional Airport located in Castlegar. From there it is approximately two hours drive to Meadow Creek.
*If you choose to approach Meadow Creek from the North please be aware that the Trout Lake Highway is a single lane dirt road used for logging. We'd like to caution you that it is not for the faint of heart.

Where to Stay
Local accommodations may be limited, so please feel free to reach out to the couple to discuss if you have any concerns! There are a few Airbnb's in Meadow Creek, if this is your plan we highly recommend booking early. Kaslo offers more options such as Hotels and Motels, and is about a 30 minute drive away. We are considering a shuttle on the day of the wedding if enough people are staying there.
For camping, we have reserved sites at Lardeau Valley Community Club near the reception hall, which has space for tents and RVs, plus amenities like Wi-Fi and showers for a small fee. Please reach out to the couple if you’d like to book a campsite. There is also beautiful lakeside camping at Davis Creek.

Things to do
We look forward to celebrating with you in this magical place! Many of you know the Kootenays very well but if this is your first time we can't wait for you to discover some of the things that make this place so special!
Leading up to the wedding we recommend checking out Nelson, which has shopping, breweries, delicious restaurants, and all the city amenities.
Further up the lake is Kaslo, a historic town, with accommodations, more good food (The Angry Hen brewery is a personal favourite), museums, beaches, and very importantly grocery stores, to stock up prior to the last leg of the journey to Meadow Creek.
If you're lucky enough to arrive a bit early or have time after the wedding weekend we highly recommend Ainsworth Hot Springs between Nelson and Kaslo.
Meadow Creek is at the head of Kootenay lake, and is a very beautiful and very little town. There is a great General Store that has all the essentials. Please note that there is no cell service in most of the valley, but there is free wifi at the Lardeau Valley Community Club, where there will be event camping and where the reception will be held. We foresee this being the meeting hub for the event weekend, so if you're feeling lost or lonely pop in here!
Surrounding the wedding we hope to be swimming at Duncan lake, playing yard games and catching up with all of you lovely people.
